My client is a leading law firm in the South West, with offices in Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton and Truro.

Following recent mergers, there are currently 47 partners, and more than 400 staff, and they have ambitious plans for further expansion. They consider applications from lawyers at all stages of their careers, from Trainees and Assistant Solicitors, to Associates and Partners.

The firm is organised into three groups; two legal – the Business & Public Sector Group and the Individual Group. These groups are supported by the various units in the Management Group. The legal groups include specialist units and work collaboratively where appropriate. They can offer their lawyers a wide variety of roles and opportunities in areas as diverse as media, charities, commercial property and planning.

They are currently looking for:
1. A solicitor
2. Experience in a law firm that has a significant private client team
3. An individual who is a team player, client friendly, proactive, hard working and computer literate.
4. A participant in the firm’s private client business development activities
5. Accomplished level of knowledge in the majority of the following areas:-
• Will drafting and inheritance tax planning
• Estate administration
• Lasting powers of attorney
• Court of protection and Deputyship applications
• Issues affecting the elderly
• Trust law and administration
6. Particular specialisms which would be of interest include:
• IHT, CGT and other personal tax planning
• Lifetime settlements
• Trust law and administration including disabled beneficiaries/personal injury compensation trusts
• Continuing care claims
7. Memberships of the following will be encouraged:
• STEP
• Probate Section of the Law Society
• Solicitors for the Elderly
