Property Litigation Solicitor 2-4 PQE +
Plymouth, Devon
£35,000 - £50,000 (Dependent on Experience)

My client is a leading law firm in the South West, with offices in Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton and Truro.
They offer an exciting and challenging career for lawyers and support staff, with opportunities across the full range of legal and management services, particularly for those who excel in all they do, and who value the lifestyle provided by the beaches, moorland and cities of one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Following recent mergers, there are currently 47 partners, and more than 400 staff, and they have ambitious plans for further expansion. They consider applications from lawyers at all stages of their careers, from Trainees and Assistant Solicitors, to Associates and Partners.

The firm is highly rated in Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. The Legal 500 rank them as “a regional heavyweight”. They also have the accolade of inclusion in the Lex 100 and are an Investors in People organisation.

Corporate clients include banks, PLCs and other leading companies recognised nationally and internationally, as well as regional businesses based in the South West. The specialised legal services they provide to individuals across a wide spectrum of work is also highly rated, and their publicly-funded caseload, in fields such as family, clinical negligence and crime, is second to none.

Already a leading player in the South West, my client has a national reputation in many sectors, and regularly wins works pitching against much larger firms. The firm is organised into three groups; two legal – the Business & Public Sector Group and the Individual Group. These groups are supported by the various units in the Management Group. The legal groups include specialist units and work collaboratively where appropriate. They can offer their lawyers a wide variety of roles and opportunities in areas as diverse as media, charities, commercial property and planning.

The firm recruits on merit and promote equality of opportunity and diversity. They offer market-leading salaries and promotion prospects, and a generous remuneration package that includes 25 days’ holiday, pension scheme and ‘death in service’ benefits.

They are currently looking for someone who fits the following criteria:

1. Solicitor

2. Proven good experience acquired by being substantially engaged in property litigation practice areas (NOT construction or planning)

3. An individual who is:-
• Hard-working
• Client-friendly
• Enthusiastic and proactive
• Capable of working as a team member
• Has a proven ability to meet performance targets
• Keen to make referral contacts through marketing and practice development

4. An individual who has a good level of understanding of:-
• Landlord and Tenant issues
• Contentious matters affecting real property, e.g. trespass and nuisance
• Property-related professional negligence
• Civil procedure

The successful applicant will join the Business and Public Sector Group comprising 125 fee earners. Within that group there are teams covering commercial and residential property transactions, commercial transactions, banking and debt collection, employment, financial and commercial disputes, insolvency, media and IT, insurance and PI, planning and land use and property litigation. The successful applicant will primarily work in the property litigation team in close partnership with other teams within the Group.
