My client is a modern, full-service regional law firm with offices in the heart of the Thames Valley. Clients include a variety of the UK and Europe's top businesses and high net worth individuals. The firm is both Legal 500 and Chambers rated across over 30 practice areas and the employment team currently consists of 4 Partners, 2 Associates and 4 Assistant Solicitors, with support from a Legal Executive and 4 secretaries.
They currently have a vacancy for an employment lawyer with around 2 - 3 years PQE. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant experience working without supervision on a range of employment matters, with a strong emphasis on respondent related work. You must possess excellent drafting skills, legal analysis, verbal & written communication skills and employment law knowledge, as well as being able to apply these elements from a commercial viewpoint. Experience conducting training seminars and workshop programmes for employer clients would also be highly desireable.
Recent assignment for the department include:
• Advising a global software company on internet access abuse and successfully defending subsequent unfair dismissal claims by employees.
• Advising a European software solutions company in successfully pursuing litigation against former employees for breach of confidence, restrictive covenants and intellectual property rights.
• Advising an internal telecommunications company on outsourcing and business re-organisation
• Advising an international pharmaceuticals company on TUPE issues on divestiture from parent group
Daily work is likely to cosist of providing HR Support for employer clients on a day-to-day basis, guiding clients through disciplinary and other internal proceedings, dealing withTUPE issues in transactional work (including due diligence) and on outsourcing employment termination, including compromise and other settlement agreements, as well as taxation implications and avoidance. You will also be involved with advocacy before the employment tribunals and courts, litigation concerning unfair and wrongful dismissal claims & sex, race and disability discrimination claims, and training seminars and workshop programmes for employer clients.
