My client is a rapidly growing law firm in the heart of Bath city centre. To assist in their expansion they are currently seeking litigation team managers to supervise 8 junior litigators as well as running their own litigation case load.

You will need the ability to supervise a team and motivate them to achieve set targets. The successful applicant will be expected to manage a team of litigators to effectively settle claims through litigation while ensuring firm-wide standards are met and exceeded.

Responsibilities as a Team Manager will include the following:

• Set, monitor and review targets for each litigator to maximise cheque and costs recovery

• Provide technical advice and support

• Ensure all Court procedures, practice and protocols are adhered to

• Manage individual performance within the team

• Encourage self development of each individual team member

• Provide excellent Planning and Organisation skills

• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, RTA and Law Society Regulations

• Ensure all targets are achieved by those reporting to you through instruction, training and coaching. Review by means of regular 1-2-1 meetings. Take accountability for the performance of the team.

• Provide ongoing technical and tactical support to your litigators to enable the team to meet the goals and targets set

• Manage your own time and that of your team to ensure that all deadlines are met and wasted costs are not awarded against the business.

• Ensure continued improved performance of each litigator by means of regular coaching meetings, appraisals and performance management when required.

• Support the growth of your team by identifying training and development needs and providing suitable training, coaching or highlighting the need to the Training Manager

• Ensure that the team is adequately staffed at all times by means of advanced planning

• To ensure that your team are aware of and implement any changes in the CPR, RTA, Law Society Regulations and insurance practice affecting motor claims handling and to pass any relevant or commercially important information to senior management and/or colleagues

• Monitor and deal with complaints in accordance with the company complaints procedures and continually seek strategies to minimize complaints

• Make recommendations for changes as appropriate to improve efficiency and reduce costs

• Show a full understanding of the policies affecting your team and the laws protecting both the business and individuals and ensure that all actions taken are in line with this, including recruitment and selection, absence, disciplinary and grievance

For this role, litigation or claims insurance experience is desired. They are seeking a confident communicator who can demonstrate a good motivational work ethic and sound working knowledge of how internal departments interact.
